Tomahawk Maps was born out of a collaboration between the Anglican Schools Commission and property developer Tom Carmody, Managing Director of Tomahawk Property. In his property advisory role, Tom frequently accessed geo-mapping tools while helping schools acquire, dispose and develop land around the country.
Looking for something similar, the ASC were keen to identify a platform which could plot the student addresses in their schools to better understand where the families were coming from, and where the gaps were. A review of competing products was undertaken; however none were deemed suitable due to their price and complexity.
A mapping platform was developed which was supplemented with the ACARA school profiling information and selected ABS Census data. For the ASC, this additional information was the icing on the cake.
Since late 2020, Tomahawk Maps has been demonstrated to over 50 schools nationally with a strong take-up rate. The clientele is located across Australia, including schools both currently in operation and under construction. Many of the subscribers choose to regularly supply their de-classified enrolment data to ensure critical planning and marketing decisions are being based on the latest student location.
Increasingly, the schools are regularly supplying their data on the future enrolments and past alumni to better predict enrolment trends. Tomahawk Maps remains committed to see independent schools empowered with geo-mapping tools to assist in making better decisions for the betterment of education.

Tomahawk Maps is an easy-to-use geo-mapping platform designed for the education sector, as a marketing aid for independent schools.
Our platform converts the home addresses of your students into latitude and longitude coordinates and plots these locations on digital maps. By overlaying the latest population and education data over these maps, providing you with a clear picture of your catchment area including:
• Past, current and future enrolments for your school.
• Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) information including enrolment numbers, staffing levels and government funding scores.
• Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Census data, including income and population projections.
The platform will visualise student locations on interactive maps, and has helpful features like heatmaps to determine enrolment ‘hotspots’, aerial photography, and tools to plan and display bus routes for students.
We already have dozens of satisfied clients using our platform to grow their enrolment and retention rates.
Don’t let your competitors gain an advantage, let Tomahawk Maps help in your path to enrolment and retention success.
At Tomahawk Maps, our mission is to provide education institutions with the tools and encouragement to bring enrolment data alive to aid critical planning and marketing decisions.
Our vision is to see Australian schools empowered with geographic information system (GIS) tools to assist in making better decisions for the betterment of education.
As a successful land developer with more than a decade of experience in the property industry, Tom knows how important location information is when making strategic business and marketing decisions.
